Sparkes Cable Company who operates the cable television system serving The Forum @ Rancho San Antonio in Cupertino, California. This system is a bi-directional 860 MHz. system that offers 75 channels of analog programming, 35 channels of High Definition programming, and high speed internet access to the residents. This system was completely rebuilt in 2005 by Newhall Telecom, LLC. Wireless Internet access has been added to the common areas and their health care center to provide access for visiting guests. |

This small private development selected Newhall Telecom, LLC to evaluate and repair their existing system. The system was upgraded in 2005 to provide quality reception via satellite for their residents. |

Joseph F. Girard Joe entered the cable television industry in 1976 working in the technical & engineering areas of the business. He has held positions with Liberty Communications, Communications Systems Inc., Video Engineering Inc., Viacom Networks (Showtime/The Movie Channel), Cooke CableVision, Inc., Digital Radio Labs, Pacific Bell (SBC), and Newhall Pacific, Inc. While a member of the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers he was involved in the founding of four chapters, served as an officer on two chapters, and as a member of the Interface Practices Subcommittee which developed a number of ANSI National Standards currently used in the broadband field. While at Pacific Bell, he was involved in the development of the outside plant materials (cable, connectors, passives & actives) used in the Advanced Communications Network, an innovative design that was the first commercial deployment of a system to deliver telephony, interactive entertainment, cable television, and high speed data over one network. Later he was instrumental in the design of a new DS3 cable, connector, & tooling system that revolutionized the quality and reliability of the DS3 network. As part of that project he developed and taught a training program for field forces that significantly reduced errors in the field. He also served as the Area Manager for Network Installation and Quality Assurance for California & Nevada. After leaving Pacific Bell he founded Newhall Telecom to address a significantly underserved market and provide advanced technology processes to small systems. |
